Did you know hosting companies help fund Drupal community initiatives? Check out http://drupal.org/hosting! GreenGeeks, Bluehost, Arvixe, Inmotion Hosting and A2 Hosting passed our security test and review process, allowing them to buy ads on this page which generated over $175,000 last year!
Drupal community members are supporters of the Drupal Association because they want to support the Drupal project and DA membership is an easy way to do so. When you join or renew, you get more than just good karma, and you give Drupal more than just member funds.
The Drupal Facebook Page just passed 40,000 "likes," a great milestone made possible by a great group of volunteer page admins. If you're not already following Drupal on Facebook, it's a great place to find the latest news and tips from the vast Drupal community.
One of my main goals here at the DA is to communicate - A LOT - about what's going on. It's my intention to put a blog post up after every board meeting summarizing our discussion so that you get more than just the meeting minutes to go by. Well, today was my very first board meeting as Executive Director, and, well, the open meeting was REALLY short. Like under five minutes short.
A big welcome goes out to Sameer Verma (sameer.verma) as a new Drupal Association Board member and to Donna Benjamin (KatteKrab), who has made the leap from the first at-large community Board member elected in January, 2012, to a continuing seat on the Board.
I can't begin to tell you what a joy these last two days in Sydney have been. My first DrupalCon was a whirlwind of acronyms and goodwill and I couldn't have had a better time, or packed my head with more Drupal knowledge. One of the most impressive parts of the conference has been how welcoming each and every individual is.
I have the great good fortune to be in Sydney this week for DrupalCon Sydney, a sold out event of over 400 attendees! So far, the Aussies have proven to be amazing hosts, and rabid Drupal fans. Since this is my first DrupalCon, I thought I would share with you what I've been learning as I take it all in. Unsurprisingly, what I learned turned out to be a whole lot of fun!
This is my first full week in the Executive Director post at the Drupal Association. I've been thrilled to get to know so many of you over the last month while I prepared to take on this role, and our conversations have reinforced the number one thing I was most excited about when considering the role: the Drupal Doacracy. Those are not empty words for this community - you mean it!
What a fantastic year for growth in the Drupal community! The past year began the Drupal Association’s board initiative to usher in new users to the Drupal community through Global Training Days, a series of free and low cost introductory trainings. The first program day started in February with 17 dedicated training companies and grew from there. You, the community, helped skyrocket the programs growth. The overall goal for the first year was 1,000 attendees, but with your help we blew it out of the water and reached over 1,500 individuals through 117 total trainings!
