The Drupal Association Announces Updates to the Board of Directors: Sameer Verma and Donna Benjamin

Donna Benjamin with Senator Kate LundyA big welcome goes out to Sameer Verma (sameer.verma) as a new Drupal Association Board member and to Donna Benjamin (KatteKrab), who has made the leap from the first at-large community Board member elected in January, 2012, to a continuing seat on the Board.

DrupalCon Portland Registration Opens!

Registration is now open for DrupalCon Portland, taking place May 20-24, 2013 at the Oregon Convention Center. Early bird pricing of $400 is available through March 15.  On March 16 the price goes up to $500. Combo passes for WebVisions and Symfony Live are also now available!

Global Training Day: A Big Success!

In the third installment of the Drupal Global Training Day initiative as set forth by the Association’s Board, there was amazing success and growth. Drupal evangelists the world over stepped up to the plate providing free or low cost training events to their local communities.

Next Drupal Global Training Day is September 14!

Drupal Global Training Days is an initiative set forth earlier this year to introduce new and beginning users to Drupal. The Drupal Association is partnering with training companies around the world to make the next Drupal Global Training Day on September 14, 2012 a success. 

We would love your help in spreading the word and in helping us grow your Drupal Community. These free or low cost training events will be offered on September 14, and then once a quarter, with one of two curriculums:

DrupalCon São Paulo Updates and Call for Session Proposals

Olá!  Join Drupal project founder Dries Buytaert and core committer Angie Byron this December 6-8 in beautiful Brazil to bring a little Carnaval to Drupal. DrupalCon São Paulo will focus primarily on content for Drupal developers, but there will of course be plenty to offer for designers, themers, project managers, architects, engineers, and those involved with the business side of Drupal.

Drupal Global Training Days is an initiative set forth earlier this year to introduce new and beginning users to Drupal. The Drupal Association is partnering with training companies around the world to make this happen, and the next Drupal Global Training Day is June 22. We would love your help in spreading the word and in helping us grow your Drupal Community. 

These free or low cost training events will be offered on June 22, and then once a quarter, with one of two curriculums:

DrupalCon Portland 2013: Design Partner RFP and Request for Volunteers Open

The next DrupalCon North America event is taking shape for Portland, Oregon, May 20-24, 2013. The venue and hotel are set. It’s a given that there will be coffee, bikes, mountains, bridges, rivers and salmon. It’s the Silicon Forest and there’s lots of open source here. In fact, it’s where the Drupal Association is now located too. And although we host the DrupalCons, we don’t have the staff to do it all.

Drupal Association Launches New Supporting Partner Program

The Drupal Association is pleased to announce a new Supporting Partner Program to allow a company to invest in Drupal Association community initiatives that will significantly help the overall Drupal community. Examples include funding for Drupal.org improvements, including the recent sprint that started the upgrade process of Drupal.org to Drupal 7, and hiring a web development team to make improvements on Drupal.org for web developers, site builders and businesses.  

Update on DrupalCon São Paulo 2012!

We are excited about our first conference in Latin America to be held in São Paulo, Brazil from December 6-8, 2012. This is a vibrant, new and growing Drupal community, and conference planning is well underway and the venue will be announced soon. Speakers from all around the world will be welcome to submit their proposals, as soon as the call for papers opens in the coming weeks.
