As you know, the Drupal.org D7 upgrade went live last week. The deployment itself went as planned, without major complications. In the past few days however we are experiencing problems with the Drupal.org performance.
What gets you up in the morning at DrupalCon? The smell of fresh brewed coffee filling the conference halls? First shift of booth duty?

On Wednesday and Thursday morning, DrupalCons typically feature technology thought leaders like Jared Spool, Karen McGrane, and Jeremy Keith to kick off the conference that day.
I am writing this note to share the news that I am leaving the Drupal Association, as of today. It has been a very difficult decision to make because I have enjoyed my time and the people I work with at the Association. However, I look forward to finding work that aligns more closely with my passion and my skills. I hope to stay in the Drupal community as working with the community has been one of the best parts of the job.
If you are reading this announcement right now, then we did it! Drupal.org runs on Drupal 7! This was a big and complicated project, which took longer than we expected. But we are finally done!
In September, we deployed a survey with the goal of better understanding the kinds of information various audiences need to learn and understand Drupal 8. The survey results are helping to tailor the content on Drupal.org including this new Drupal 8 overview page. The page will evolve over time and will soon include links to deeper information such as technical documentation. The results will also help determine which topics need the most amplification on social media.
The Drupal.org D7 upgrade launch is confirmed. Today is Monday, 28th of October, we have 0 launch blocking issues and performance tests are looking fine. Therefore, we are going to launch on Thursday, October 31st, 2013.

Last Wednesday we held our October Board Meeting, with a pretty quiet public agenda. 'Tis the season for developing 2014 budgets and workplans, so we spent most of our meeting time in Executive session covering those topics. Once approved, of course, we will share with you. But until then, here are few of the issues we covered that you should know about.
Friday, 4 October was the first First Friday Sprint - also known as the D8 Contrib Sprint Initiative (CSI) as announced at the opening ceremony of the Prague Con.
