When Will the DrupalCon Prague Website be Live?

Prague astronomical clock

The good news is there is a tremendous amount of buzz and excitement building for DrupalCon Prague! The unfortunate news is the website is still not live, which means we haven’t been able open up registration or call for papers. We wanted to let you know there is a lot of work being done to make DrupalCon Prague an awesome event, and that we are working hard to get the website up. We also want to thank you for your patience with the website, and provide a few details that will help you plan for the event.

Recipe for a Great DrupalCon: Notes From the Desk of Rick Nashleanas, Chief Cat Herder

The way that a DrupalCon comes together is similar to how releases of Drupal are produced by the community. Passionate experts in their subject matter areas volunteer tirelessly to make each DrupalCon grow and exceed the expectations of the past.

Memories of DrupalCon Portland

DrupalCon Portland iconEvery DrupalCon has its own personality. Before we let Portland slip away into the distant past, let’s revisit a few memories that made this Con unique, and a great addition to the storied history of DrupalCons.

The DrupalCon host city is always an important character in the cast and Portland was no exception. The weather turned on a dime from record high temperatures and sunshine at the beginning of the week to record low temperatures, wind and rain. The abrupt switch left visitors scratching their heads, while those who live in Portland simply shrugged, reciting the motto “If you don’t like the weather in Portland, just wait a few minutes.”

DrupalCon Munich is around the corner: call for papers and registration open

As announced on stage at DrupalCon Denver, we have just opened the Call for Papers for DrupalCon Munich 2012, as well as keynotes, call for trainings, scholarships, and registration. The Drupal Association and the Munich DrupalCon committee have been preparing for the next DrupalCon for months now. Things will move into high gear once DrupalCon Denver closes its doors, later this week.

Vote for the Next DrupalCon Europe 2013 Host City

Which city would you like to see host the 2013 European DrupalCon? The Drupal Association worked with a European Selection Committee led by Advisory Board Member, Kristof Van Tomme. They selected ten potential locales for the European DrupalCon in 2013 based on a set of predetermined criteria. And now it’s your turn to vote!

Happy Holidays and see you in Denver

All of us at the Drupal Association wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. The past year has been an amazing period of growth for the Association and we could not have done it without your continued support and the amazing passion you all have for the Drupal Project. Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year, take a well deserved break and let's gear up for an amazing 2012.

Help us define 2012 and the future of the Drupal Association

2011 was a big year for the Drupal Association. In our first year of staffed operations the Drupal Association was effective in a number of initiatives but didn't meet our expectations in others. It was a year of growth for us, as we learned how to navigate within and support the community and be an organization that is truly reflective of the community we support. Now with a year of learning behind us and a new governance structure we're looking forward to 2012.

Increasing our transparency: DrupalCon

Over the past year I have been working with the Drupal Association to build an organization that not only supports and fosters the growth of the Drupal community but also one that the Drupal community can be proud. In this post I would like to address the transparency around the Drupal community’s largest financial event; DrupalCon. In just a few short years this event has grown from a small handful of people to a million dollar event and we have expanded our reach by beginning to work outside of the United States and Europe.

DrupalCon NA 2013 Straw Poll and Nominations Now Open!

The 2013 DrupalCon North American Selection Committee is looking for input from the Drupal community to help select the location for DrupalCon North America in 2013 (and beyond).

Straw poll
As we did last year, we’re releasing a “straw poll” intended to gauge community interest in various cities. This list is not intended to be exhaustive, and community members are welcome to suggest alternative options.

You can make your voice heard by going to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/drupalconpoll now!

The poll takes less than five minutes to complete, and we’ll be accepting responses through June 19, 2011 in all timezones (deadline is 11:59pm Hawaiian Standard Time Standard Time or UTC -10 hours). Everyone is welcome and encouraged to complete this quick survey.
