With the Drupal.org redesign launched, I’ve heard many ask, “what’s next?” We always do regular, incremental improvements through the infrastructure and webmasters projects. This will continue, with the new design as a foundation and deployment workflow improved by the redesign project.

I’m continuing as a contractor for the foreseeable future. My paid time is prioritized by the Drupal Association’s goals. Currently, we want to make sure Drupal.org is financially self-sustaining, ensuring we continue to do good things. For example, you may have noticed user profile pages show Association membership status. Next, we are going to improve the Drupal services listing; there is business around Drupal, Drupal.org should be a good resource for Drupal users, and potential users, to find services. More details will follow in another post and the issue queue.

I dedicate free time to Drupal.org, working on projects I feel are important. My biggest project is the API module running API.drupal.org. I’ll be going to the documentation sprint this weekend to work with the documentation team.

What about Drupal 7? The first sprint in the Drupal.org redesign was upgrading to Drupal 6 with no new features; this worked well and we should do the same for Drupal 7. Something along the lines of a week-long sprint with 10-15 people, with a 6-week feature freeze to provide time for testing and deployment. We haven’t started planning, this is completely tentative.

More great improvements will be coming, especially with there are volunteers interested in helping. This post is not a comprehensive list of projects, there is plenty to do.
