Open Source Marketing

The board has recognized a need for marketing. We see the need for marketing but it is difficult to define focus.
Strategy moving forward:
1. Collect all ideas floating around out there and write them down.
2. Work in the public: Have marketing strategy in the wiki so that people can contribute. Blog publicly and accept input from community.

In the future we may want to look to the CEOs and Marketing sales leads to analyze the market and identify use cases. Marketing is less about strategy and more about execution.

The board agrees that a press release is needed to highlight Drupal 6 and that we should start sending marketing materials to local events around the world.

Drupal's current licensing situation

The board recognizes that the project does not specify a GPL in a way that is legally binding - So we are GPL any version - There is no place that we've specified 2.0 only. - The line in LICENSE.txt specifies only that LICENSE.txt is Version 2. This should be fixed in LICENSE.txt and on drupal.org to explictly define the version of GPL the project is covered under.

Trademark

Right now we have several trademarks owned by Dries. D, the relationship needs to be clarified and a plan to transfer them to the DA. The trademarks at issue are the word Drupal and the logo. We're talking about currently existing trademarks, others that come up , and the drupal.org domain name. We must define when and how people can use the trademarks. There is a default set of rules and we can add on top of that. The board will work with our lawyer from the Free Software Foundation (FSF).

DRUPAL.ORG REDESIGN

Discussion over what is included in the drupal.org redesign.
Does this include wiki.drupal.org? drupalmodules.com? Does it mean we're continuing to hope and pray that project module is prioritized? We need a political consensus.

Transparency items:

- Publishing minutes
- Publicizing Budget
