As part of the Diamond and Platinum sponsorships for DrupalCon Portland, we've offered leaders at these sponsor companies the opportunity to guest blog on the Drupal Association site. Today's post is the first of those--written by George DeMet--announcing a DrupalCon pass giveaway from Palantir.net

At Palantir.net, we believe in making good. This concept extends not only to our projects, client relationships, code, design, fun, and friends, but is also applied in altruistic ways in both our personal professional lives. We see these same values expressed every day by other contributors to the Drupal project and community.

Attending DrupalCon is a great way for people in the community to connect with others and to work together to help make Drupal the very best software platform available. However, we’re also very aware that attending DrupalCon is cost-prohibitive for many, especially those who may be newer to the project.

To that end, Palantir is very happy to announce that we will be giving away ten passes to DrupalCon Portland to bright and passionate people who could not otherwise afford to attend the conference. We were inspired by the story of Italian student Vincenzo Rubano who is running an Indiegogo campaign to fund his travels from Italy to the United States to attend DrupalCon Portland and to whom we've already donated a pass. Vincenzo is working to improve the accessibility of Drupal and to educate the Drupal community about the need of accommodating people with disabilities.

We’re looking for other folks interested in doing good at DrupalCon for whom cost is a barrier to entry. All you need to do is fill out a form on our website and tell us who you are and what good you hope to accomplish at DrupalCon Portland. Those who are selected will not only receive a three-day conference pass, but also have the opportunity to share in conversations at our booth, be introduced at our Tuesday Day Stage session, and receive an invitation to a private meal with Palantir’s DrupalCon contingent.

Applicants should already have an account on drupal.org and be either be able to secure travel and lodging themselves or be local to the Portland area. Applications are due by April 30, and pass recipients will be announced on May 3.

Let’s make something good together at DrupalCon Portland!
