My first Drupalcon was Chicago in 2011. I was a new hire at a great Drupal start up, Bluespark, and until I attended the conference, I have to admit... I didn't feel like a part of "Drupal". It was at this event that I found what was to become a huge part of my life: the open source community.
I was enchanted from the start with the OS mentality. I loved the idea of so many people from all over the world coming together to do something amazing. By the time Drupalcon London came around, I was searching for ways to get involved at the heart of this incredible project. I was lucky enough to be welcomed on to a team of wonderful initiative owners working on Drupal 8, and I tried to contribute as much support, knowledge, encouragement and, of course, memes, as I could to keep the team moving forward & making progress. I loved it and the experience was incredibly enriching, even if I was very tired for quite a while.
Since then I have made contributions, but ultimately feel like I have a lot more I want to give. Being a part of the DA is a new opportunity to contribute back my time, energy and ideas. One that I hope will help me to realize the many items on my wish list that could make our community stronger and our technology richer.
