About MENA region is very rich area of competencies that should identify them and recognize us, During the past period was good to pay attention to the open-source alternative is vital for companies and governments also and etc..
So the needed actions from my prespictive that we need to show our presence in huge regon like MENA as all those hungry to these alternative solutions specifically open source and "Drupal" and the main one the need
- Support them.
- Provide them with the trusted Drupal referances.
- Access to them locally.
- Enriche Arabic OpenData using Drupal.
and about the community we this region have a very active communities
- Egypt
- Tunisia
- Jordan
- Palestine
- KSA
and more so I will do my best to make each one have at least one drupal con.
also will encourage the contributions as there is a lot of talented developers in this region just needs to be activated to act within the community to contribute there code which will enriches the Drupal core and contrib modules.
the translations will be more active spcially "Arabic"
I think much of this can be done locally, inside regional bodies and Drupal groups without the involvement of the Association at Board level.
It would require board level support to have a full-blown MENA Drupalcon, but it's not necessary to be part of the board to lobby for a regional conference or camp, and typically camps precede conferences. I do forsee diffculties in the Association board supporting a large scale Drupalcon in KSA, as the laws disadvantage women, who are a good proportion of the community.
