North America at NightWe are thrilled to announce that we have opened the RFP process and are accepting bids for the 2017 North American DrupalCon, and beyond.

DrupalCon is a pretty special event, it brings together thousands of people from across the globe who use, develop, design, and support the Drupal platform. It is easily the most widely attended Drupal event in the world.

If you are eager for your city to host a DrupalCon we recommend you send this link to your city's Convention Center or Tourism Bureau. We have begun outreach to cities that our DrupalCon team, and the community, has identified as a good fit. That said, we are always welcome to suggestions.

If you are a convention center or tourism bureau and have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.

We appreciate your interest in DrupalCon and can't wait to tell you where the next Con will be!

As a U.S. resident, I'd like to make a pitch for Canada. It is the North American Drupalcon after all, but other than the proto-Drupalcon at the Open Source CMS summit in Vancouver way back in 2006, Canada has yet to host. Vancouver and Montréal are both great cities and have lots of Drupal development going on. Toronto gets knocked as boring but I'm sure is lovely, and also has plenty of Drupal shops. I'm sure all the major Canadian cities have good attributes.

There are other U.S. cities that would be cool: New York, Miami, Philadelphia, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Boston (again, because it will have been almost a decade) -- but really, it's Canada's turn.

I've only heard of a little Drupalling happening in Mexico City, but it'd be great to see that as a future location too.

I live in Portland OR, so no need for me to reach out to my tourism bureau -- though we'd love to have you back any time!

Thanks for the feedback! I totally echo what you've heard / thought about a DrupalCon happening in Canada or Mexico. At this point our first priority is searching for a location for 2017, although we are looking at locations for 2018-2020. I think it would be fabulous if we could bring a Con outside the US. For us to have a Con outside the US it would take quite a bit of operational, legal, and business structures that we just don't have in place right now. (We would need a legal entity, special tax considerations, a bank account, etc.) So, sadly, that isn't likely for 2017 - but it's definitely something we could consider for future Cons.

Thanks, again, for the feedback!
