we need a logo. attached something i made up, feel free to throw away or build upon.
it reflects the goal(s) of the association; to protect (shield) drupal and facilitate the grow (hands).
the latin text is "to protect and let grow"

Association identity in general
I spoke at length with (forget his name, will look up later) this guy from France who did a revamp of the Drupal one pager for OSCON. He did some nice work.
In general, I'd like to put up a posting asking for suggestions / quotes on this. We have many fantastic designers in the community that might like to contribute some work.
We can start by talking through what we feel the association identity should be like. Here are my thoughts:
* must include the Druplicon
* include strong branding elements of Drupal blue
* some other element that is linked to the association (e.g. hands, shield, whatever -- including a complimentary colour)

Agreed with all of that...
Does "Should we throw out a call for help in the community for designing an identity for Drupal Association?" qualify as something that should go to the board for a decision? It seems like at the very least we should have the Synopsis/FAQ pages finished first, so that we can refer people to something when they invariably ask, "What's the Drupal Association?"
Else, I can try and come up with something around Bert's idea, but I think identity is important enough that it's probably best to get someone who really knows what they're doing involved.
