Back in November, a group of folks at DrupalCamp NW decided to ask that question and see what happened. The result? Some prett great answers, and a wonderful video that really captures the community:

What does Drupal mean to me?

My first day on the job at the Drupal Association, I got on an airplane to head to DrupalCon Sydney. (Tough, right?). I was pretty nervous. I had been at the same job for ten years, so this felt, I imagine, like a recent divorcee heading back into the dating pool. Adding to my nerves? I've always felt like a psuedo-geek. Sure, I can explain every plot point from every episode of Buffy and Battlestar Galactica. And yes, I used to hand-code HTML web sites - for fun. But code a module? Not so much.

So when I came downstairs for the first day of the event, there were butterflies in my stomach, and every time I met a new person, I felt obliged to confess my sins before they found out: I am not one of you.

To my great amazement and utter delight, however, everyone laughed at my confession. "Yet," many added. "You're not one of us YET." To a person, I received nothing but helpful advice and offers to show me the ropes. So while Drupal is for some code, a way to make a living, or a means of creative expression, for me Drupal is people, and kindness, and generosity. I feel really lucky to be a part of this community.

How about you? What does Drupal mean to you?

Oh! And huge shout out to Paul Johnson, Stephanie Hosny, Mark Hope, Mike Bell and Philip Norton for making this happen!
